Luca’s Birthday!

Marucia Kintschev

As we cross-posted in Futbolita today, Kaká celebrated Luca’s 1-year birthday at a “chic house” in Itaim, the south of São Paulo. The party was three weeks late because he was in South Africa for the Confederations Cup and could only form a letter “L” to commemorate the occasion.

Carol and Kaká received more than 100 guests and among were the other celebrities like Elano, Robinho, Felipe Massa and Ronaldo.

Kaka attended his first medical at Real Madrid yesterday [click here for more]. He was then unveiled in front of thousands of fans and press at the Bernabeu in a Number 8 jersey.

He said : “When I spoke to the president he showed us his sporting project, and it influenced my decision a lot,” explained Kaka, who had attracted the interest of other clubs, including wealthy English outfits Chelsea and Manchester City. He’s a winner and everything he wants is with this in mind.

“I asked him if he could do everything that he said, and he has shown that he can. It’s a great privilege to form part of great teams. I’ve been fortunate to play with great players, and I’m now going to continue doing the same.”

“My experience in football has told me that talent alone is not enough,” said Kaka, who will be aiming to take Madrid past the last-16 stage of the Champions League for the first time in six years next season. I’ve met players with a lot of talent who have not been successful, and others with less talent who have been champions.

“It’s something else to have a team of players with talent who sacrifice themselves to achieve the same aim.”

Kaka is expected to be unveiled by Real Madrid next Tuesday in a presentation ceremony at the Santiago Bernabeu. A huge party has been planned by the club and his number will also be presented. Kaka’s arrival is expected immediately after Brazil’s final game against the USA tomorrow evening.

Anyway, we all know Kaka’s a nice man and he spoke about England’s chances at the 2010 World Cup.

“First we have to see who gets there because, for instance, Portugal are struggling to qualify,” he said. “But I can say the most important national teams at the moment are Spain, Argentina, Italy, France and England.”

Kaka added: “I think England are playing very well under Capello. “England have a very, very good group of players.

“Of course we know now in football that just talent is not enough. But I think England can have a very good World Cup.”

KAKA OFFICIALLY A REAL MADRID PLAYER

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Kaka on a six-year contract.

The deal with AC Milan is expected to set a new world record transfer fee and could pave the way for a new ‘Galáctico’ era at the Santiago Bernabéu under recently re-elected president Florentino Perez.

Reports suggest that the transfer fee is around 68m euros ($94.05m or £58.9m), thereby smashing the previous world record of £47m set by Real in 2001 when they bought Zinedine Zidane from Juventus.

At a press conference in Recife, where the 27-year-old playmaker is currently on international duty ahead of Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Wednesday, Kaka revealed he rejected the move to England as he did not want to leave Milan mid-season.

I can officially say I’m a Real Madrid player. My professional link with AC Milan finishes now, but my sentimental link will never end,” he said.

“Real Madrid intend to build a great team, with historic players such as Raul and Casillas. We will make history again, both in Spain and Europe. I guess the sport project is very good.

“Manchester City and Real Madrid are two different clubs with different situations. At that time (January), it was mid-season, I had a strong emotional impact due to the Italian fans requesting me to stay, and I decided to stay.

“Now another chance came up and AC Milan is in a big crisis (financially). For me, the sporting project (at Madrid) is interesting and will be an important boost to continue my career in the highest level.”

Kaka went for 2 medical examinations today – one at Ilha do Leite and the other at Clínica ITORK. In recent days, speculation has been rife that Real Madrid’s doctors are in Brazil to examine the playmaker.

At 9am this morning, Kaka left the hotel where the selection currently staying at and later met his father and businessman, Bosco Leite.

Said the doctor at the Clinica ITORK, “I am a friend of Runco (Brazil team doctor) and I came to do an overall assessment of Kaka as part of his negotiations with Real Madrid. My Spanish colleagues are here to record the tests and forward (them) to Spain.”

Brazilian networks are reporting that Kaká will sign the contract with Real Madrid this afternoon in the hotel. Later in the evening, Kaka will speak at a press conference about his decision.

Kaka is Milan. Milan is Kaka.

Some rumours have been floating around about Kaka moving to Chelsea with Ancelotti and Pirlo. Kaka has denied these allegations. “My future is here with Milan and their project, and I hope it is a future with Carlo Ancelotti as coach,” Kaka said.

Also, Kaka has been linked to Real Madrid (and new president, Florentiono Perez) in recent days but based on his comments, he is not likely to move anywhere next season.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

It has come to our attention that some blogs and sites have copied and pasted Kakafans’ content directly without any credit. They have also hotlinked photos irresponsibly. Please note that we have taken down your IP addresses and site links and are working with your webhosts to monitor the situation. We’re not naming names for now, but please exercise some respect when it comes to other people’s efforts. You wouldn’t want people to steal your work, would you?

AC Milan’s president, Silvio Berlusconi (above, right) has spoken up about the Kaka situation and Real Madrid.

“I will speak to Kaka on Monday probably,” he said. “On Monday you will all know the decision that has been taken. And to add, we will talk when we have a definite decision. At the moment there is no decision. On Monday I will meet with Kaka, and then we shall see.

“Putting aside the great friendship [with Kaka], the negotiations are in the hands of Kaka’s father, he is the one who will decide. [If Kaka goes] we still have a certain Ronaldinho.”

***This is the only official word so far on a possible transfer, nothing else has been confirmed by Real Madrid, Milan or Kaka himself. Kaka’s words before leaving for the national team were : “I want to tell the millions of Milan fans that I have made my choice. I have said I want to stay, now leave me alone please. Write it. I want to stay with Milan and from today this issue is over.”

KAKA ON MILAN’S SERIE A LOSS

Milan lost 1-2 to Udinese yesterday, effectively handing over the Serie A title to rivals Inter Milan.

Kaka said : “We are sorry because we expected this evening to close the issue of qualification to the next Champions League. Now we have to (play) two games to close the account. It’s shame, especially because we know how we have to keep the fans (waiting) . We will have to take (to) the field in the coming two games as if they were finals and try to prepare better for them.

We have seen that it was difficult to (win) the Uefa Cup this year and we cannot go wrong again. Certainly it is a failure of continuity. Today, things (went) wrong and we took to the field interpreting the game (inaccurately).”
“Maybe we drew against Juventus because (the game had) a lot of rich detail and a great meaning. Now Udinese beats AC Milan, but in a different context.”

Biography

Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite (born April 22, 1982 in Brasília, Brazil), simply known as Kaká, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Brazil and the Serie A club A.C. Milan. He is one of the budding young stars in world football.

Family
Kaká's younger brother Rodrigo Izecson Dos Santos Leite, known as Digão, followed in his brother's footsteps and is currently on loan with Serie B team Rimini, after having spent some time in the AC Milan youth squad.

Nickname
The nickname Kaká, from his native Portuguese, is pronounced as it is spelt. The accent would signify that the stress is on the second syllable. In Italian, the language of his current team, the phonetic equivalent is written as Kakà, which is used for Italian television graphics. However, the player's shirt name is spelt KAKA' (with an apostrophe, rather than an accented 'A') for both Brazil and Milan. An internet discussion forum explains the nickname as a commonly used shortened form of "Ricardo" in Portuguese. Kaká is supposed to have got his nickname because his little brother Rodrigo could not pronounce the word "Ricardo" when they were young. Rodrigo called his older brother "Caca\ Kaká suffered an accident when he made a faulty jump off a diving-board, resulting in a vertebra fracture. This could have meant the end of his football career, but he believes that Jesus allowed him to recover and become the successful footballer he is now. When AC Milan won the Serie A title in 2004, Ricky, as he is called by his team-mates, sported a shirt with an "I Belong to Jesus" slogan. He also points his fingers to the sky as a sign of thanks every time he scores, for apparently the same reason.

Marriage
Kaká married Caroline Celico on 23 December 2005 at the evangelical Reborn in Christ Church in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in a wedding attended by fellow players from his national team, as well as other well known international players. Guests included Ronaldo, Adriano, Cafu, Dida, Julio Baptista and Brazilian national coach Carlos Alberto Parreira. Caroline and Kaká first met in 2002, and started dating soon after. The relationship survived Kaká's move from Sao Paulo to Italy in 2003, while Caroline was still at school. It is likely that Caroline will stay in Brazil in the short-run, but the couple plan to live together in Italy very soon.
